ILOCOS: Marcos Mausoleum and Museum

6:34:00 AM

So our next destination is The Mausoleum and Museum of Ferdinand Marcos. It's my 4th or 5th time I guess visiting this place. Even though I've been here a couple of times, it always seem new to me. Everytime I visit it, there are different new museums or places etc.
The Marcos Museum and Mausoleum integrates both memorabilia storage and the current resting place of Ferdinand Edralin Marcos. It is situated in the heart of Batac, Ilocos Norte. The museum shows memorabilia of the late president, from his stint in the armed forces down to his presidency. The large and solemn mausoleum contains the glass-encased coffin in which Marcos' embalmed body has been on public display since shortly after his remains were brought home in 1993. (Wikipedia)

You can find Marcos' corpse in a glass coffin in an aircondtioned room. His body is preserved I guess for more than 25years because the previous administrations didn't allowed them to bury him in the National Heroes' Cemetery. His body look like a wax replica and we thought that his body's secretly buried already. But then, on our last visit, the tourist guides confirmed that it is his real body and they explained how many layer of chemicals is used to preserve his body. Cameras are not allowed inside he mausoleum that's why I wasn't able to take pictures there.

The pictures below are taken from the Gallery.

In the gallery, you can find the pictures and portraits of the Marcos Family.

The newly-elected president Rodrigo Duterte plans to let Marcos be buried in the National Heroes' Cemetery. So my tip for you guys is visit the Mausoleum now before it's too late!
